Zojirushi NS-LGC05 vs Tiger JBS-A55U
Last checked 2026-10-03.
Per their manuals, both are 3-cup, 120 V micom cookers that take 0.5 to 3 rice cups of raw white rice, and 0.5 to 2 of brown or GABA brown; a rice cup is about 180 mL, so 3 cups is about 2.28 US cups raw. The Zojirushi NS-LGC05 also has sushi (1–3) and steel-cut oatmeal (0.5–1.5) menus; the Tiger JBS-A55U has neither. The other difference is the pot: each maker sells its own replacement by part number. Zojirushi's B481-6B was in stock at Zojirushi's store when read; Tiger's JBS1186 was sold out at Tiger's parts store.

Kinds of claim on this page: capacities, cups, voltages and pot care are product evidence from each maker's manual and product page; a replacement pot's fit is a compatibility statement, the maker's own part list; pot materials are named as the makers name them, a manufacturer claim, not a finding about safety; anything no source states, such as cooked yield, is unknown. No price is shown.

Raw rice, levelled in each maker's own cup. Sources: Zojirushi NS-LGC05: manual p. 12, “Tips to cooking various rice menus”; Tiger JBS-A55U: manual pp. 10–13, “Menu Functions” (no sushi or steel-cut menu among its ten).
Neither manual states how much cooked rice a batch makes, so this page gives none.
Left out, and why
- Toshiba TRCS02 (B091TW6ND5): no manual found on Toshiba's own site, only third-party copies, so its capacity table was not read
- Third-party pans described as compatible with the NS-LGC05 (for example B0H8KXCC8F): not a Zojirushi part; a pan that looks the same is not a stated fit
- Zojirushi B362-6B pan on Amazon (B00L6H3SD2): a genuine part for a different, 5.5-cup model, and sold by a third-party seller
We tested nothing: no taste, texture, speed or energy measurements, and nothing here ranks the rice. Capacities are raw rice in each maker's rice cup, not cooked rice and not US cups. Nothing here judges any coating's safety.
Whether a given amount fits each cooker: 3-cup rice cooker capacity by rice type. Replacement pots, part numbers and stock: Zojirushi and Tiger replacement inner pots.
