Sous vide starter setup cost
Last checked 2026-09-25.
A working setup needs only the cooker: both makers' guides use a pot you already have and sealable or zip-top bags, and neither lists a vacuum sealer as required. Anova's 16L container, with its lid and rack, is the add-on Anova offers for the Precision Cooker; no source read pairs it with the Joule Turbo. Anova Premium is an optional paid plan; Breville+ has no paid tier. This page shows no prices: the calculator adds up the prices you enter.
This page has no retailer links yet; they are added at launch. No prices are shown; check the retailer. How this site is funded.

- Anova 16L container (includes an integrated cooking rack and a lid (Anova's page); source): Anova Precision Cooker 3.0 stated (Anova offers the 16L container as the add-on for the Precision Cooker on its product page); Breville Joule Turbo not stated (no Anova or Breville source read names this container for the Joule Turbo)
A pot must hold enough water for each cooker's minimum (Anova: 65 mm; Joule Turbo: 25 mm, with 1 in of space left at the top). A container's nominal volume does not by itself show that a given cooker clamps to it.
Kinds of claim on this page: controls, apps, subscriptions, water limits and warranties are product evidence from each maker's page, guide or support article; a container's fit is a compatibility statement, the maker's own pairing; accuracy and speed figures such as Anova's ±0.1°C are a manufacturer claim this page does not repeat as a finding; anything no source states, such as whether the Joule Turbo cooks without a phone, is unknown. No price is shown.

The price fields start blank and nothing is filled in for you; a result is only the sum of what you entered, not a current offer. Without JavaScript the calculator does not run; the table above shows what each setup adds up. The container's lid and rack are in its price and are not added again.
Anova's US product page links a “Quick Start Guide: Europe”; the US support article is cited for manual operation instead. Anova says a new unified app is “coming in 2026”, so app terms can change. Breville: “Currently, you can't pair your original Joule to the new app”; the original Joule and the Joule Turbo are different generations. Breville Joule Turbo: on Amazon on 2026-10-03 the Joule Turbo (B0C384T4P2, listed as BSV600PSS) was sold and shipped by Amazon.com; on 2026-09-25 it had been sold by a third-party seller.
We tested nothing: no temperature accuracy, heating time, noise or energy measurements. Setting a temperature is not proof of food safety; follow the makers' guidance and trusted food-safety sources. App terms are as read on the date shown and can change.
