Kinds of claim on this page: floor suitability, required solution, parts and warranty are product evidence from each maker's manual, support page or product page; runtime is a manufacturer claim (Tineco's from its own lab); a floor no source settles is unknown. Which floors each maker lists
| Floor | Tineco Floor ONE S5 | Shark HydroVac Reveal WD321 |
|---|---|---|
| Sealed hardwood | supported manual: “non-carpeted floor surfaces such as vinyl, tile, sealed wood” | supported Shark FAQ: “hard floors such as sealed woods, tile, vinyl” |
| Tile | supported manual: “vinyl, tile, sealed wood” | supported Shark FAQ: “sealed woods, tile, vinyl” |
| Vinyl | supported manual: “vinyl, tile, sealed wood” | supported Shark FAQ: “sealed woods, tile, vinyl” |
| Low-pile area rug | excluded manual: “Use only indoors, on non-carpeted floor surfaces” and “be careful not to run over … edges of area rugs” | supported Shark FAQ: “as well as low pile area rugs” |
| Carpet | excluded manual: “Use only indoors, on non-carpeted floor surfaces” | unknown Shark names low-pile area rugs only; wall-to-wall carpet is not addressed |
| Unsealed or oiled wood | unknown the manual names sealed wood only and does not address unsealed wood | unknown Shark names sealed woods only and does not address unsealed wood |
The practical difference is area rugs: Tineco rules out carpeted surfaces and warns against running over rug edges, while Shark's FAQ lists low-pile area rugs. Neither maker addresses unsealed or oiled wood, so that stays unknown for both. Shark's product page also describes the WD321 as for “sealed hard floors”.
What each one asks you to buy again
- Tineco: “Always use Tineco solution in your appliance”; a spare filter and brush roller come in the box, and Tineco states no replacement interval.
- Shark: “Only use Shark HydroVac Multi-Surface Concentrate and water”; the owner's guide says to replace the filter and the brushroll every 6 months.
We tested nothing. Nothing here is a cleaning-performance, noise or durability result, and a maker listing a floor type is not a guarantee for every finish. Test a hidden area first and follow each manual.
