KitchenAid tilt-head vs bowl-lift: Artisan KSM150PS or Bowl-Lift KSM55?
Last checked 2026-10-03.
The tilt-head Artisan KSM150PS has a 5-qt bowl and 10 speeds; the Bowl-Lift KSM55 has a 5.5-qt bowl and 11 speeds. KitchenAid gives 9 dozen cookies per batch for the Artisan and 11 dozen for the KSM55. The practical difference is how the bowl attaches: a tilt-head bowl twists onto the base under a head that tips back; a bowl-lift bowl sits on arms and is raised by a lever. KitchenAid says the two bowl types are not interchangeable.

“unknown” means no source we could read names that mixer; see the compatibility matrix for the exact wording.
Bowl sizes are nominal capacities. Batch figures are the manufacturer's own (KitchenAid gives them; Cuisinart does not on its page). We tested nothing: this page makes no claim about power, noise, durability or baking results.
